You'll need to have a day-pack ready when you are picked up from your accommodation as your 4WD adventure begins as soon you get to Fraser. Don't forget to pack your swimmers, towel, hat, sunscreen and sunglasses, comfortable walking shoes or sandals, insect repellent, essential medication and of course a camera to click all the action! Cold water is available on tour however it's a good idea to take your own bottle.
Your main backpack or other luggage will be delivered to the Wilderness Lodge storage area for you to collect in the afternoon. Each guest may check in free of charge up to two items of luggage with a maximum weight of 25 kilograms each. Additional luggage will be charged a fee.

ITINERARY HERVEY BAY TRIP

Day 1 : Hervey Bay to Fraser Island

Get picked up from your Hervey Bay accommodation and take a ferry across to the World Heritage sand island that is Fraser Island. Today you will get to have a swim in famous Lake McKenzie, visit the historical heart of the island - Central Station and the rainforest boardwalk, see ancient King Ferns at Wanggoolba Creek, visit Pile Valley's famous Satinay trees and trek to Basin Lake which is perched high in the dunes.

Day 2 : Fraser Island

Today we discover the ocean highway of 75-Mile Beach and it's famous icon of the SS Maheno Shipwreck, swim in crystal-clear Eli Creek with ocean views, visit The Pinnacles Coloured Sands where you learn about local mythology, climb Indian Head for Fraser Island's most spectactular views, experience the natural rock pool jacuzzis at Champagne Pools plus time for an optional joy flight with Air Fraser taking off right from the beach.

Day 3 : Fraser Island to Hervey Bay

We enjoy a buffet breakfast before trekking through the sand to the oasis of Lake Wabby. The shifting sands of the Hammerstone Sand Blow are on the agenda before a buffet lunch at Eurong Beach Resort. Try your hand at stand up paddle boarding (included) on the clear, fresh waters of Lake Birabeen before hopping on the 5pm ferry from Kingfisher Bay back to the mainland.

  • Pick up from central Hervey Bay accommodation between 7 and 8am.
  • Ferry departs River Heads at 9am

From Fraser Island

  • Ferry departs Kingfisher Bay Resort at 6pm

ITINERARY RAINBOW BEACH TRIP

Day 1 : Rainbow Beach to Fraser Island

Your 4WD adventure begins with some of Fraser Island’s inland sights including Lake McKenzie, Basin Lake and the magnificent rainforest. Your ranger guide will tell you about the Island’s history, plants and animals. Highlights of today will include taking a dip in famous Lake McKenzie, Fraser's most perfect lakeside beach; visit the historical heart of the island, Central Station and enjoy a rainforest boardwalk; see ancient King Ferns at Wanggoolba Creek; visit Pile Valley's famous Satinay trees; and trek to Basin Lake, which is perched high on the dunes. Overnight at Wilderness Lodge accommodation.

Day 2 : Fraser Island

Today you’ll hit the beach with a drive along the world’s most amazing highway, Seventy-Five Mile Beach. On the drive along the beach you will stop to see fast-flowing, freshwater streams, coloured sands and the ‘Maheno’ shipwreck. Climb to the top of Indian Head and look out for sharks, huge rays and humpback whales (July to Nov). Enjoy a soak in the Champagne Pools and perhaps take an optional joy flight with Air Fraser, taking off right from the beach. Overnight at Wilderness Lodge accommodation.

Day 3 : Fraser Island to Rainbow Beach

For your last morning on this amazing island, trek through the sand to the oasis of Lake Wabby. See Fraser's shifting sands at Hammerstone Sand Blow before enjoying a lunch buffet at Eurong Beach Resort. Experience stand-up-paddle-boarding in the clear and fresh waters of beautiful Lake Birabeen before hopping on the ferry back to the mainland, arriving at Rainbow Beach accommodation at approximtely 6pm (tide dependent).

  • Pick up from central Rainbow Beach accommodation from 07.30am.
  • Pick up times can vary due to tides.

FROM FRASER ISLAND: (ONLY ON THE 3 DAY TOUR)

  • Arrival in Rainbow Beach on day three at approximately 6.00pm.
  • Drop off to commercial accommodation from 6.00pm
  • Return times can vary due to tides.

Air Fraser scenic flight

Although Cool Dingo Tours are all-inclusive, don't forget money for souvenirs (an ATM is available at the resort) and drinks at the bar. The resort's Village Store sells resort wear, groceries, drinks and snacks, alcohol, sun-screen, insect repellent etc.

Those travelling with a campervan or car can drive to River Heads Mainland Reception where they can receive a secure pin to gain access to the parking facilities. Bookings are recommended. 2 night rate is a $45 local payment.
